Viewranger Supports BBC Children In Need Rickshaw Challenge 2012

For this year’s Rickshaw Challenge, six teenagers – accompanied by TV presenter Matt Baker – are aiming to cycle from Llandudno to Television Centre in London. Following on from its successful use last year, ViewRanger have again kitted out the Rickshaw team with their GPS navigation app on smartphones and will use the ViewRanger location sharing service BuddyBeacon to allow website visitors to see the team’s real time progress along the gruelling ride.

For Children in Need’s 2011 Rickshaw Challenge, the BuddyBeacon tracking page received 4.5 Million hits over the course of the event and helped people to watch the progress and plan the best place and time to go out and cheer them on along the route.

ViewRanger are delighted to be working with the BBC’s Children in Need Rickshaw Challenge 2012. The Rickshaw Challenge team will be using the ViewRanger App to share their real time progress on the road via the charity’s website, as well as to assist with navigation and team logistics.

This year, Team Rickshaw aims to cover 411 miles in 8 days and hopes to better the £1.9 million raised by Matt Baker last year when he went from Edinburgh to London.  The six young people have all benefited from Children in Need funded projects and are determined to show what they can achieve.

Every day viewers will be able to follow Team Rickshaw’s progress online at the Children in Need website http://pudsey.viewranger.com and follow the team on Twitter via #TeamRickshaw, as they travel from Llandudno to London. To Donate £5, text “TEAM’ to 70705. Texts cost £5 plus one standard rate message, £5 will go to BBC Children in Need, registered charity number 802052 (England and Wales) SC039557 (Scotland). Go to bbc.co.uk/pudsey for full terms and conditions. You must be over 16 and ask the bill payer’s permission.
